The first record of Briquemault dates back to 1240. So when we set out to bring the estate back to life, we knew we were only passing through a story much bigger than ourselves.
Two years of work, an obsession with detail
For two years, carpenters, stonemasons, landscapers and electricians came and went across the estate's ten hectares. Every decision was guided by one simple question: will this amaze our guests?
A few numbers that tell the scale of the project:
- A 400 m² orangery raised facing the manor
- 5 guest rooms entirely reimagined, from floor to attic
- 1 natural waterfall restored to its full glory in the park
- Hundreds of trees pruned, cared for or replanted
A taste for detail
The greatest joy of the project? The details you only notice on a second visit: a handle found in an antique shop, a restored light fitting, the exact shade of a shutter. Nothing was left to chance, and that is precisely what our guests feel without always knowing why.
"We were asked for a level of finish you rarely see in thirty years of the trade. Here, even the back of the set is polished."
What's next
The estate is now open for weddings, corporate retreats and curious minds. The festival has had its first edition, and the dinner show is announcing its first dates. The story of Briquemault is just catching its breath.
